I would post pics but I live on the left coast and I am in my waiting period. I was told that it was a 1943 but my better judgement tells me its an early 44. The reason they think its a 43 because some web site says so. I have seen pistols with serial numbers as low as 123XXXX that date to 1944. This pistol has the British marks and the serial number is 125581X. So whats the verdict from the experts on this web page. Thanks for your valued input, it is much appreciated, Drew. The barrel which originally came in the pistol would have the British proofs on the chamber. Don't know what barrel was in the pistol, but the unmarked barrel is not correct. The frame, slide, and barrel were all proofed. High Standard's contract called for them to supply barrels to Remington Rand, Ithaca, and US&S, and HS was the primary supplier. 1911 ForumColt 1911 Serial NumbersLike Springfield Armory, Flannery Bolt supplied primarily replacement barrels. Some Flannery barrels were used in new production pistols, but not to the extent that you could say that an Ithaca would always be correct with a Flannery barrel. The barrel that was on the gun was serial numbered and said Colt on it. From my research not all lend leases had marked barrels like yours. I have seen museum pieces that had F marked barrels without the other stamps. As you stated they are the correct replacement barrel, maybe thats why it had it on their. I am not trying to contradict you in any way just making the observation.
